Are you wishing your Model 3 had a “power lift gate” like the Model S or X? I cover various trunk lift products on the market!
Beware, some are made poorly and can even damage/break your back window!
OPTION #1 – TeslaOffer Model 3 Power Liftgate Soft Closing ($600-650)
PRODUCT LINK: TeslaOffer Model 3 Power Liftgate (Soft Closing)
The absolute best and most full-featured automatic trunk lift product!
Honestly, I don’t think you should consider any other product other than this one. It’s pricey but so worth it when you consider all that it does. What I love most is how innovative this company is. They came out with the aftermarket power lift gate for the Model S before the Model S even had the option!
- Open AND CLOSE using car touchscreen
- Open AND CLOSE using official Tesla App
- Open AND CLOSE using key fob
- Close trunk with supplied buttons (you can choose where to put)
- Open AND CLOSE using your foot (optional add-on)
- Control opening height (in case of low ceiling clearance or for shorter people)
Yes, it’s incredible. You can automatically open AND CLOSE your trunk using touchscreen, mobile app, key fob, added buttons, or even your foot! All the other “automatic trunk lifts” on the market will only open your trunk; they can’t close it!
If there is one “drawback” to this kit, it’s that it takes a whole day to install. Yes, there’s instructions and everything but will take you time to install it well. If that seems too hard, you can pay someone else to do it. Either way, the extra cost and effort is totally worth it!
OPTION #2 – EVANNEX Trunk Lift: Pneumatic Hood Supports for Tesla Model 3 ($69.99)
PRODUCT LINK: EVANNEX Trunk Lift: Pneumatic Hood Supports for Tesla Model 3
This is probably the next best “automatic trunk lift” product on the market. Just some really strong pneumatic lifts and springs that pop your trunk open. All the cheap ones on the market are pretty much a low-grade copycat of this product. If you want a cheap and easy way to get automatic open for your Model 3, this is it. It installs in like 15 minutes. Super easy and simple.
- Pops your trunk open automatically.
- Easy to install.
- Doesn’t close or any other feature.
- They make a frunk version, too!
OPTION #3 – copycat pneumatic trunk lifts ($20-30)
These are all the copycats of the EVANNEX pneumatic trunk lift. Whatever you do. Do NOT buy these. They are weaker and easier to break or damage your car. There have been multiple reports of people that had their back windows broken because of these cheap products. Also that these lifts stop working after a while and/or don’t work under certain temperatures. You can look up the reviews on Amazon and read for yourself.
- BASENOR $30
- AY Customs $35
- Beneges $21
- So many more copycats on Amazon…
