Looking for a great home charger for your Tesla (or even other EV’s)? Here’s what I found…
The main issues are quality (how long it lasts), compatibility (with Teslas and other EV’s), ease of installation (does it require complicated electrical lines?).
- Tesla charger – get the official one. Works great, well-supported by a big company. I recommend this if you only need it for Teslas.
- ClipperCreek – great charger! Heavy-duty, made for industrial use. I highly recommend this if you need to charge non-Tesla EV’s as well.
- JuiceBox Pro 40 – I heard great reviews but also many bad ones about it failing within a year.
Chargepoint – these are all nice and look great, come with a handy app. The issue is that they only allow one charger per app account. So your friend or your spouse can’t use it unless they are logged into your account. - Just a regular 240V line – would also work just fine but with 2 caveats. One is that you probably don’t get the home charger tax rebate. The other is that there are no smart functions like scheduling your charge during off-peak hours, or tracking your charge usage (to see electric costs, etc).
